TAWAU: A fish shop at Bandar Sri Indah (BSI), Batu 10, Jalan Apas, was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, sending thick smoke and flames visible from a distance.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Jemishin Ujin said the blaze involved a 30 x 50 premises belonging to TK Seafood Co, which was 100 per cent gutted.
The department received an emergency call at 7.28am, with firefighters arriving at the scene at 7.49am.
“The team carried out firefighting operations using two 200-foot hose lines with water sourced from the fire engine tank,” he said.
The fire was brought under control at 8.20am and fully extinguished at 8.41am after ensuring the area was safe.
A total of 15 personnel, led by Operations Commander PBK I Jehrey Ibno, were involved in the operation, with assistance from the police and the Civil Defence Force.
No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
