Kota Kinabalu: A 79-year-old woman has lodged a report after she was allegedly punched in the head by a fellow condominium resident following a heated confrontation over her 14-year-old autistic grandson.
The incident, which was captured on closed-circuit television, happened at about 5.30pm on Friday at Jesselton Condominium.
According to the complainant, she had been observing her grandson from her balcony when she noticed the teenager — who has autism — sitting on the floor near the condominium’s swimming pool rather than on a chair.
She then went downstairs to look for him.
Upon reaching the lower floor, she encountered a male neighbour. She told him that if he had any issues with her grandson, he should take the matter up with the building’s management.
She also appealed to him not to raise his voice aggressively at the boy, explaining that her grandson was autistic.
The complainant stated that the neighbour responded by calling her grandson “annoying” before moving uncomfortably close to her and throwing her spectacles to the ground.
Startled, the elderly woman said she pushed him away to create distance between them, at which point the man allegedly punched her.
