TONGOD: A two-door quarters house belonging to the Tongod Health Clinic was completely destroyed in an early morning fire on Monday, with no casualties reported.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station chief Hairi Otuh said the department received an emergency call at 2.40am before a fire engine from Kota Kinabatangan was dispatched 172 kilometres to the Tongod Health Clinic quarters.

He said the fire involved a semi-permanent quarters house measuring 40 by 60 feet that was 100 per cent destroyed, while a nearby non-permanent house was about 20 per cent damaged and an Isuzu D-Max vehicle sustained approximately 10 per cent damage.
The operation involved six personnel from Kota Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station and four members of the Saguon Volunteer Fire Brigade using a portable pump and water from a nearby hydrant, with the fire brought under control at 6.48am and operations concluded at 7.58am after the area was declared safe, while investigations are ongoing to determine the cause.
