SOOK: Tulid Assemblyman Jordan Jude, urged the Keningau District Council to take immediate action to address the worsening issue of garbage overflow around Sook town.
The failure of the solid waste management authorities to ensure that garbage collection is carried out according to schedule has caused concern among residents and the business community, who are affected by the increasingly unmanaged environment.
This issue not only affects the appearance of the town centre, but also creates strong, unpleasant odours, disrupting the comfort of the public visiting the area.
Jordan said that the contractor must fulfil its responsibilities and adhere strictly to the waste collection schedule to prevent solid waste from overflowing and tarnishing the image of Sook town as one of the key centres in the interior.
He also issued a firm reminder that cleanliness standards cannot be compromised, as they involve public health and the well-being of the people.
Delays by garbage trucks in carrying out their duties not only reflect poor service performance, but also place additional strain on residents who have to face dirty surroundings daily.
In this regard, Jordan said his commitment to continuously monitor the situation to ensure that the Keningau District Council takes comprehensive and effective action.
Local residents are hoping that the authorities will not delay and will act promptly to restore the cleanliness of Sook town for the common good.
