KUNAK: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Semporna branch issued notices to three traders in Kunak under the Weights and Measures Act 1972, the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 during an integrated operation on Tuesday.
KPDN Semporna Branch Chief Satunlucy Lamioh @ Lamidah said the operation was carried out with the Health Ministry (KKM) and the Kunak District Council (MDKNK) to ensure compliance with trade laws and health regulations at business premises in the district.

The operation involved five KPDN officers, nine KKM officers and six MDKNK enforcement personnel.
“As a result, KKM issued four separate notices while two notices were issued by the Kunak District Council. Inspections focused on supermarkets, grocery shops, restaurants and petrol stations,” she said in a statement.
She said the operation was conducted following consumer complaints and that KPDN would continue to intensify enforcement efforts to ensure traders comply with the law and safeguard consumer rights.
Satunlucy reminded traders not to misuse controlled goods or manipulate prices, adding that KPDN remains committed to ensuring supply stability, price compliance and a fair trading environment.
