KUNAK: Two men were injured after a tanker lorry carrying crude palm oil (CPO) skidded in a self-accident along Jalan Kunak–Lahad Datu on Thursday morning.
Kunak Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohammad Omarbatha said the department received an emergency call on the incident at 11.17am via the Mers 999 line.
He said six personnel, along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit from BBP Kunak, were deployed to the scene located about 25 kilometres from the station.
The victims were rescued by members of the public and sent to the hospital before the firefighters arrived, and were reported to have sustained injuries, while the incident also caused a diesel spill on the road.
He added that firefighters carried out checks to ensure there were no further hazards and conducted clean-up works using foam before the operation was fully concluded at 12.54pm.
