SEMPORNA: Five compounds were issued and 100 litres of petrol were seized during a three-hour integrated operation, Ops Tiris 4.0, carried out in the district on Wednesday.
The operation, conducted by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Semporna with Esscom, covered several locations including hotels, construction sites and squatter settlements.
KPDN said five on-the-spot compound cases and one regular case were recorded. Three cases were under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, two under the Weights and Measures Act 1972, and one under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
“Six jerry cans containing 100 litres of petrol were seized during the operation. The seized items were estimated to be worth RM387, while the compounds issued totalled RM1,300,” the ministry said.
A total of 17 inspection notices were also issued.
KPDN reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening enforcement efforts to ensure stable supply and prevent misuse of controlled goods.
It also thanked Esscom and other enforcement agencies for their cooperation. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the authorities for further action.
