KUNAK: Two men were injured after a crude palm oil (CPO) tanker lorry skidded along Jalan Kunak–Lahad Datu on Thursday morning.
Kunak Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Mohammad Omarbatha said the department received an emergency call at 11.17am via the MERS 999 line.
“A total of six personnel, along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, were dispatched to the scene about 25 kilometres from the station. The team arrived at 12.13pm and found the CPO tanker had skidded on its own,” he said.
Both male victims had already been rescued by members of the public and sent to hospital before the fire brigade arrived. The incident also caused a diesel spill on the road.
“The team checked the area for further hazards and used foam to clean up the oil spill. The operation was completed at 12.54pm,” Mohammad added.
