PUTATAN: P-hailing motorcycle riders have been urged to prioritise road safety as demand for delivery services is expected to increase ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Putatan MP Shahelmey Yahya said riders should remain mindful of safety despite the busy period as many work harder to earn income for their families during the festive season.
“During the Aidilfitri celebration period, P-hailing riders are actively involved in delivering food and other items ordered by customers.
“In facing the expected increase in demand, we at the Putatan parliamentary level would like to remind riders to prioritise safety, especially when travelling on the road,” he said.
Shahelmey said this after attending the “Jom Balik Raya” programme with P-hailing riders at a Petronas petrol station along Jalan Mat Salleh in Tanjung Aru near here.
He added that riders should focus on maintaining efficient and quality service while ensuring their safety so they can celebrate Aidilfitri with their families.
During the programme, Shahelmey also presented petrol vouchers to P-hailing riders from the Putatan parliamentary constituency and personally refuelled motorcycles of participants attending the event.
Also present were Datuk Bahrul Razha Chuprat, general manager of Sabah Forestry Development Authority (Safoda), and senior special officer to the Putatan MP Mohd Sufian Matin.
