Kota Kinabalu: With the Hari Raya Aidilfitri travel rush approaching, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has issued a timely safety reminder urging its staff and students to prioritise road safety as they journey back to their hometowns.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Kasim Mansor expressed concern over the risks associated with long-distance travel during the festive season, calling on the university community to plan their trips carefully to avoid traffic congestion and driver fatigue.
He advised those travelling with their families to remain vigilant on the road, ensure their vehicles are in good condition, and strictly adhere to traffic regulations at all times.
“Safety must always come first so that everyone can celebrate Aidilfitri joyfully with their loved ones,” he said, adding that proper vehicle maintenance and responsible driving are essential for a safe journey.
Kasim also conveyed the university management’s hopes that all members of the UMS community would be granted smooth and safe travels, allowing them to celebrate the festive season in a harmonious and cheerful atmosphere before returning safely to campus.
