Kota Kinabalu: Two people, including a local woman, were detained during a drug operation in Taman Aman 3 in Lahad Datu on Wednesday.
District Police Chief Dzulbaharin Ismail said the suspects were arrested during Op Tapis conducted by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division.
He said the operation team spotted two individuals behaving suspiciously in front of a house in the residential area.
“An inspection on the male suspect led to the discovery of a folded paper containing a translucent plastic packet believed to contain syabu, along with a piece of aluminum foil,” he said in a statement.
However, a search conducted on the female suspect did not uncover any illegal items.
Both suspects were later taken to the district narcotics office for further action, including urine screening tests.
The tests found that both individuals were positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Dzulbaharin said the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
He added that the operation reflects the continued commitment of police in Lahad Datu to combat drug-related activities in the district.
