SEMPORNA: Police arrested a 56-year-old Indonesian and seized 5.05 grammes of drugs believed to be Syabu following an operation at Kampung Rau-Rau, in Lihak-Lihak, here, on Thursday.
District Police Chief, Supt Tan Hiap Wah, said the man was detained during a special operation launched based on police intelligence at around 1.30am.
During the operation, police observed the man in a suspicious condition inside the living room of an unnumbered house.
“Further inspection of the bag belonging to the suspect revealed substances believed to be Syabu, weighing 5.05 grammes. The suspect was taken to Semporna Police
Headquarters for further investigation. Checks showed the suspect had no previous criminal record,” he said.
Tan said the case would be investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
He added that the police will continue to intensify operations to combat drug abuse and trafficking in the district.
Tan urged the public to report any information regarding drug activities to the police to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
