TAWAU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Kukusan candidate Samsiah Usman said women’s ability to manage and lead communities should not be underestimated, saying the notion that only men can be leaders is no longer relevant.
The Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS) Women’s Chief wants to prove herself as a dependable leader who can champion local issues at higher levels for proper attention.
“In a marital relationship, a husband often follows his wife’s guidance. In political leadership, women tend to be firmer and more decisive. The country is now more open to gender equality issues,” she said during her visits around the Airport Lama settlement on Jalan Utara Baru.
Asked about balancing campaigning with family time, she expressed gratitude for her supportive husband, who often accompanies her, especially during evening outreach sessions.
