Putatan man wins Proton X-50 in Sazarice contest

Kota Kinabalu: Hamdan bin Mohd Said, a Telekom Malaysia employee from Putatan drove home a Proton X50 1.5 Premium after winning the Grand Prize in the 2025 Sazarice Beli, Momom & Menang (Buy, Eat & Win) Contest over the weekend.

The draw held at Karamunsing Shopping Mall, Kota Kinabalu also saw Roselah Baidi, who works with the Statistics Department in the state capital grabbing the 2nd Prize of a Proton Iriz 1.3 Standard.

Hamdan who submitted four entries and Roselah, five, were among the 10 lucky winners drawn from more than 14,000 entries received in the contest which ran from September 1 till December 31, 2025.  

The 3rd Prize of two SYM Husky 150 motorcycles went to Raysia @Vanessa Lea binti Atin and Muhammad Hasrol Kuszaini.

The balance six winners each earned an AppleMini Ipad, namely Saina Sinsan, Wong Chiau Wei, Tai Guan Wuu, Nani binte Ghani, Muhammad Nur Illman Amin bin Ahmad Mokhtar and Mohd Sani bin Marban.   

The 10 drawn winners (two could not turn up) were required to undergo 3 rounds of fun games related to rice to determine their prize-ranking based on the scores secured from the games.

Sazarice brand ambassador Ms Dabra Sia graced the event.

The prizes totalling over RM200,000 also included 80 units of Panasonic Microwave which were given away to 20 lucky winners each month during the duration of the contest.

The Beli, Momom & Menang contest required consumers to purchase a minimum one bag of rice from any Sazarice rice brand and submit their entries online.

Sazarice chief executive officer Akip bin Ismaila said this 4th consecutive annual contest which coincided with Sazarice’s 28th anniversary was aimed at strengthening bond with and show appreciation to consumers.

Sazarice Sdn Bhd was established in 1997, engaged in the principal business of rice wholesaling and is now the No. 1 rice distributor in Sabah. Sazarice has also ventured into the production of vermicilli (beehun).
