NABAWAN: Various public facilities have reportedly sustained damage, including erosion and landslides at several locations following the flash floods that struck Pekan Pensiangan at the end of February.
Nabawan Assemblyman Datuk Abdul Ghani Yassin said an application for RM2.8 million had been submitted for recovery and repair works on affected infrastructure.
He said the application was made through the District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) and submitted to the State Government via the Home Affairs Office.
“The District Office has conducted a meeting through the District Disaster Management Committee to identify the damage and needs in the affected areas. All matters have been submitted for immediate action,” he said when met at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by the Nabawan District Chief’s family, Ulin Datuk Pamiang, at Kampung Murni D, here, on Monday.
He added that, for now, the ADUN’s office, the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM), and the District Office are continuing to monitor the situation.
“If there are urgent needs, we will consider providing the necessary assistance,” he said.
Ghani said these measures are important to ensure the safety of residents while expediting the restoration of basic facilities affected by the disaster.
