Kota Kinabalu: Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (CIS) contributed RM1 million to the Sabah Football Association (Safa) to support football development in the State.
The contribution was presented at a ceremony at the SAFA office here by CIS Chairman Datuk Japlin Akim to Safa Acting President Datuk Awang Kadin Tang.
Japlin said the contribution reflects CIS’ commitment to strengthening sports development in Sabah, particularly football.
“We congratulate and hope Safa will achieve greater success under its new Acting President,” he said, adding that the contribution forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
He said the amount was timely in view of upcoming matches and rising costs, adding that the RM1 million contribution was double the RM500,000 given last year.
Awang Kadin expressed appreciation for the contribution, describing it as both a financial and moral boost in efforts to strengthen football in Sabah.
