Roadshow to gather feedback on needs of Local Authorities
“In total, there are 25 district councils, including municipal councils in Sabah, that will be engaged to obtain direct briefings from the respective councils,” Arifin said.
MEMBAKUT: The Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KKTP) will conduct a roadshow tour all 25 district councils across Sabah to gather feedback on the needs and proposals of Local Authorities (PBT), beginning today (Sunday).

Its Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said the roadshow will begin with visits to several districts, including Penampang, Putatan, Beaufort, Kuala Penyu and Papar.

“Within the first two weeks, five district councils will be visited before the roadshow continues to Sandakan and subsequently to Tawau.

“In total, there are 25 district councils, including municipal councils in Sabah, that will be engaged to obtain direct briefings from the respective councils,” he said during an Aidilfitri Thanksgiving Ceremony at Kampung Pimping, Saturday.

Arifin said the KKTP roadshow will be carried out simultaneously with the Sabah Islamic Affairs Department (Jheains), which will introduce the “Tadarus Subuh” initiative.

“Tadarus Subuh will include Quran completion (khatam) sessions at dawn as well as activities to encourage the practice of Quran recitation throughout the year.

“Each programme is expected to involve more than 300 participants, and suitable locations in each district will be identified for its implementation,” he said.

He added that the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS), Jheains and the Sabah State Baitulmal Corporation will also conduct their respective programmes by engaging with mosques in the districts involved.

“We will also channel utility assistance to mosques and identify repair needs involving mosques and religious schools.

“In addition, I will visit existing and ongoing development projects such as state religious schools, mosques, and suraus,” he added.

Also present were Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih and Yayasan Sabah Director Datuk Ghulam Haidar @ Yusof Khan Bahadar.
