16 held in Labuan for disrespecting Ramadan
LABUAN: Sixteen individuals were detained during Ops Rahmah Ramadan in Labuan for failing to observe Ramadan, authorities said.

Ustaz Sazali Ridthouddin Shahbudin, Senior Deputy Director of JAWI Labuan, said the arrests, based on public tips and patrols, took place at food outlets, beaches, parks, supermarkets, and industrial areas.

Those detained will face investigation under Section 15 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997 and, if convicted, may be fined up to RM1,000, jailed up to six months, or both.
