Ecos collects RM190,000 in fines, strengthens enforcement
KOTA KINABALU: The Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) has reinforced energy law enforcement, recording 19 charges and RM190,000 in fines across Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu courts from January to March 2026.

In Kota Kinabalu, Maribumi Sdn Bhd was fined RM11,000 for unauthorized installation near high-voltage 11kV lines, causing permanent injury to a worker.

MBS Tuning faced RM25,000 in fines for illegal bypass connections and unauthorized wiring, while three other cases were remanded for trial with bail set between RM5,000 and RM20,000.

In Sandakan, Ori Taste Restaurant Sdn Bhd was fined RM92,000 for tampering with meters across four premises.
