Kota Kinabalu: Police are investigating a fight involving workers of two tourism companies in front of a tourist kiosk at Jesselton Point, here, on Sunday.
Acting City police chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said the incident, reported to have occurred at about 10.30am, is believed to have stemmed from a dispute over customers between the parties involved.
He said the altercation led to chairs being thrown, resulting in damage to property belonging to others at the scene.
A kiosk operator lodged a police report following the incident for safety reasons and to prevent public misunderstanding, while no reports have been received from individuals directly involved despite a video of the incident circulating on Facebook.
He said police have opened an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and are working to identify those involved, while advising the public not to engage in acts that may disrupt public order and to comply with the law.
