Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor attended the parade in conjunction with the 75th official birthday celebration of the Head of State at Padang Merdeka on Monday.
Accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag, Hajiji arrived at 7.55am and received the salute from the Main Guard of Honour upon taking his place on the main stage.
The ceremony, steeped in customs and traditions, peaked with the arrival of the Head of State Tun Musa Aman and his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, at 8am, followed by the playing of the national and state anthems, a 17-gun salute, and the royal salute before he inspected the Main Guard of Honour.
He later inspected contingents from government agencies, statutory bodies, non-governmental organisations, ethnic associations, higher education institutions and schools, while the event also featured a choir performance and a presentation by the Sabah Cultural Board, with State and Federal Cabinet members, assemblymen, Members of Parliament and heads of departments in attendance.
