Kota Kinabalu: Racing resumes tomorrow (Sunday) after the festive break with focus on Race 4 (Class 1) over 1,100m sand track.
Widely hailed as Tambalang’s best thoroughbred in recent years, the versatile Kinabalu Warrior is gunning for his 6th consecutive win.
Lord Justice can offer a proper fight if he shows up with dependable-type Magic Billion (Ex. Summer Glitter) expected to track closely. David’s Sling and Brilliant One can be included in the minor selections.
Promoted to Class 1, new entrée to local racing Wind of Liberty with wily jockey Sairee on board can surprise.
Race 5 (Class 3) over 1,100m sand track is hard to call with several vastly-experienced starters in the mix. Combative Messi is early favourite with recent drop in class. Pedigree-type Blue Chip has ability to dominate the market.
Blarney Blink, Classic Head and Magic Light are seasoned campaigners always prepared for battle. Tambalang’s brightest star Magic Million must be respected.
Major part of racing thrill is spotting the next superstars early. Youthful three-year old Salon S in Hong Kong meeting, Sunday Race 8 (Class 3) looks extremely promising with a record of 3 wins in 3 starts.
The relatively more experienced four-year old Lucky Sam Gor can deliver a proper run after finding competition too tough last start in the HK Classic Cup. Sunny Da Best attacked the line hard last run and should figure prominently. All’s Well and California Waves are strong chances in placings.
Race 9 (Class 2) over 1,200m features an array of talents embarking on their careers. Bulb General with 3 wins in 4 starts is favourite. Resuming after six-month due to injury, he has trialled well ahead of the race.
Promoted Galactic Voyage, another talent should be regarded after two wins at previous Class 3 level. Magnifique with 5 wins in 7 starts under his belt is a strong frontrunner and is hard to catch under right racing situation.
Over at the Capital, Royal Sabah Turf Club’s (RSTC) Borneo Star vanquished the competitors at Selangor Turf Club on March 15 with a powerful run at Class 5 (B) over 1,020m.
Wednesday evening and Saturday and Sunday’s local and foreign races are telecast “live” at Tambalang Racecourse (Tuaran) and RSTC’s Off-Course centres in Tanjung Aru (KK), Keningau Sandakan.
