LAHAD DATU: Police arrested two foreigners in two separate drug operations codenamed Op Tapis, here, on Thursday.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dzulbaharin Ismail said the first suspect was held behind a hypermarket building in Jalan Pantai at about 11am.
He said, a team of police from the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division arrested the suspect after they found a translucent plastic containing substances believed to be Syabu weighing 0.46 grams in his possession.
The 25-year-old man was also tested positive for taking drugs.
About half an hour later, the team arrested a 36-year-old man at Kampung Bakau.
Following inspection on the suspect, police found two translucent plastic packets containing substances believed to be Syabu weighing 5.33 grams with aluminium foils.
The suspect was also tested positive for drug abuse.
“The first arrest will be investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 while the second case would be investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” said Dzulbaharin.
In the meantime, Dzulbaharin stressed that the operations reflected Lahad Datu Police Headquarters continuous commitment in combating drug activities in this district.
