The company was fined RM20,000, in default 30 days’ jail, for dishonestly tapping electricity directly from the SE supply line without passing through a registered meter at its premises in Lorong Minyak, Inanam, on March 12, 2025.
The offence caused losses estimated at RM6,258.12 between April 1, 2024 and March 12, 2025.
It was also fined RM5,000, or 30 days’ jail in default, for installing electrical wiring at the premises without written approval from SE.
The prosecution, led by Andryero Thomas from the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECOS), said enforcement officers from ECOS and SE discovered the premises had no electricity account or valid supply contract.
Inspectors also found an illegal three-phase connection from the SE service line powering the company’s workshop, office and warehouse, as well as a non-SE meter believed to have been installed to mislead authorities.
