Kota Kinabalu: A Pakistani who owned a shop in the State, was charged with committing physical sexual harassment against a minor.
Usman Ali, 33, appeared before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, to face the charge against him.
However, no plea was recorded from Usman as he did not understand Malay language and that he needed a Pashton interpreter.
The court set Apr 20 for mention the case pending the availability of the Pashton interpreter.
Pending the disposal of his case, Usman was ordered to be remanded further.
Usman is accused of committing the offence against the nine-year-old girl by touching her right breast at the Kedai Runcit Wali in Kg Warisan, Inanam, here on Feb 5 this year.
The offence under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a jail term of up 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis appeared for the prosecution while Usman was not represented.
