Kota Kinabalu: Two men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court here Wednesday with retaining stolen motorcycles.
Mohd Rizwan, 25, and Madji Muji, 33, pleaded not guilty separately before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to the charges against them.
Rizwan was accused of having a stolen Yamaha E11M(E) motorcycle belonging to one Jali Awang at 11.50pm on March 18, at a roadside of Indah Permai area, near here.
Madji, meanwhile, was charged with having a stolen Honda RS150R motorcycle belonging to one Mohailie Majinol at 6.20pm on March 17, 2026, near Bus Stop No. 5, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Jalan Canselor, near, here.
Both Rizwan and Madji were charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of not less than six months and not more than five years, and is also liable to a fine, on conviction.
Inspector Mohamad Hamidi Mohamad Hamzah, prosecuting, applied for pre-trial case management dates for both cases and proposed bail at RM4,000 each.
Duty counsel Lim Ming Zoong, representing Rizwan, and Jagnesh Jaya, representing Madji, requested lower bail amount.
Lim said Rizwan is a divorcee and single father of two children who works as a labourer and is the sole breadwinner of his family.
Jagnesh said Madji is married with four children and currently unemployed.
The court fixed May 5 for Rizwan’s pre-trial case management and April 28 for Madji’s, and granted bail at RM2,000 each in one surety.
