KENINGAU: Continuous rainfall has caused water levels to rise in several low-lying areas of Kampung Kauran and nearby villages in the district.
Fire and Rescue Station Chief Severinus @ Mohd Nidzam Sainkui said on Thursday that water levels recorded on Wednesday had reached waist height, but the situation remained under control during monitoring.

Firefighters remain on the ground to observe water levels and ensure residents’ safety. No evacuations have been carried out so far.
The Fire and Rescue Department conducted follow-up monitoring in Kg Kauran and inspected conditions at the Dangulad and Liawan rivers.
He said checks found that water levels had receded and remained under control despite ongoing light rain.
Traffic in affected areas remains passable for both small and heavy vehicles. Continuous monitoring is being carried out to safeguard residents and track any changes in water levels at identified flood hotspots.
In LAHAD DATU, Several areas were hit by flash floods after continuous heavy rain since Wednesday (Feb 4) afternoon, disrupting traffic and damaging property in low-lying neighbourhoods.
On social media, the situation appeared serious, with videos and photos showing vehicles being swept away by strong currents, along with a wooden stilt house reportedly carried off by floodwaters.
Residents said flash floods have become a recurring problem whenever heavy rain persists, blaming poor drainage systems for the worsening situation.
