BATU PAHAT: A 23-year-old convenience store worker was charged at the Sessions Court here with seven counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving more than RM32,000, allegedly used to repay illegal moneylenders,
Harian Metro reported.
Nurfatin Najwa Ahmad Bzli pleaded guilty to all charges before Sessions Court Judge Osman Affendi Mohd Shalleh.
She was accused of misappropriating RM32,101.70 from daily sales proceeds at a convenience store in Taman Soga between March 21 and 27.
The charges were framed under Section 408 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 14 years, a fine and whipping upon conviction.
However, women are exempted from whipping under Section 289 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The offence came to light after an internal audit revealed discrepancies in cash flow. Nurfatin reportedly admitted using the money to settle debts with Ah Longs who had allegedly threatened her.
The court denied bail and set Friday for mention and sentencing.
