Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC are setting it’s sights on a favourable outcome in the first leg of the 2025/2026 MFL Challenge Cup final against Penang FC, scheduled for this Saturday at the Bandaraya Stadium in Penang.
Head coach Juan Torres Garrido
(pic) expressed confidence in their preparation, describing the team’s readiness as optimal after a smooth training period leading up to this crucial tie.
“We have gone through a good training period and prepared as best as possible. We expect to be able to control more in this match.”
He emphasised that while their main target remains to win, the two-legged nature of the final necessitates a more strategic mindset.
“This is a two-leg final, so there is no final result after the first leg.
“A good result is important, but is not the final outcome,” he said.
With regard to Penang FC, he anticipates a highly motivated opponent.
“This is the final match and we expect them to be as enthusiastic as we are to try to get a positive result.”
He is also hoping the players can produce a performance that can elevate fan spirits, laying the groundwork for the return match at Likas Stadium on April 19.
