Lorry driver dies in Tawau crash
Firefighters, assisted by members of the public, carry the victim’s body.
TAWAU: A 58-year-old lorry driver died after he was trapped in the heavy vehicle he was operating when it crashed along Batu 8, Jalan Apas here at about 12.30pm on Friday.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station chief Jemishin Ujin said they received an emergency call from the public at 12.37pm.

A team of seven firefighters rushed to the scene, located 23km from the station, and arrived at 12.58pm.

Firefighters found that the 10-tonne transport lorry had skidded onto the roadside and confirmed that the driver was pinned inside before successfully extricating him.

Jemishin said the man was later pronounced dead by Health Ministry personnel, and his body was handed over to police for further action.
