MENUMBOK: A passenger boat caught fire (pic) in waters between Menumbok and Labuan at about 3pm on Thursday.
District Police Chief Wong Leong Ming said the vessel had departed Menumbok around 2.45pm. The fire occurred near Labuan waters, but all passengers managed to reach Pulau Batu safely.

“They are currently at Labuan Police Station to lodge reports. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department,” he added.
All passengers were wearing life jackets and survived.
Witness Ahmad Said, whose brother owns the boat, said the vessel is usually full, but everyone escaped safely this time. The Malaysian Maritime Agency helped extinguish the fire.
