NABAWAN: The construction of the Bantul-Pagalungan road is set to begin next year with a federal allocation of RM286 million, opening wider access to remote areas and boosting the economic development of the district.
Datuk Mohamad Razlan Rafii, Political Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi, said the project documents have been completed and physical work is expected to commence next year once all technical processes are finalised.

He said the Bantul-Pagalungan route is one of the most crucial road networks connecting interior settlements to the nearest economic centres, easing residents’ movement and improving the transport of agricultural produce.
“The construction of this road is also expected to enhance access to healthcare, education and safety services, bringing long-term benefits to rural communities,” he said when met during the Kasih @ Desa KKDW programme, here, Tuesday.
Mohamad Razlan also revealed that RM10 million has been allocated to the Nabawan district next year under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) for implementing public infrastructure development.
He said the allocation includes village road repairs, improvements to water supply systems and the construction of new public facilities to enhance residents’ well-being.
The Federal Government, through KKDW, has also allocated RM5 million under the Program Perumahan Rakyat Sejahtera (PPRS), involving the construction of 30 new houses and repairs to 100 existing homes to help low-income families improve their living conditions.
“This continuous commitment from the Federal Government aligns with efforts to ensure that interior districts are not left behind in national development, while narrowing the gap in basic amenities between urban and rural areas,” said Razlan.
