KINARUT: A visit to Lok Kawi Road on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri found more than 10 lemang stalls in operation, continuing a tradition that began during the fasting month and extended into the festive season.

Among the sellers was Mazliah Mayut, 35, who has been making and selling lemang since the age of 13.

She learned the craft from her father, Mayut Oeh, now in his 60s and originally from Kota Marudu.

A retired government staff formerly based at Lok Kawi Camp, Mayut taught himself how to prepare lemang from scratch before passing the skill down to his family.
