Kota Kinabalu: A participant in the recent Borneo International Marathon (BIM) was reportedly injured after being hit by a car along Jalan UMS on Saturday, according to City police chief ACP Kasim Muda.
He said police received a report on the incident involving a private vehicle and a 40-year-old male participant in the 42-kilometre marathon category at about 3.30pm.

Initial investigations found that a 27-year-old local man driving a Proton Saga allegedly struck the victim from behind while the victim was running in the left lane of the road designated for marathon participants near KM32 Jalan UMS heading towards Likas.
Kasim said the victim sustained minor injuries to the hands, knees and back of the neck and received further treatment at Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu, while the driver also reportedly suffered minor injuries to his right arm.
He said the case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 and added that the vehicle involved had been taken to Kota Kinabalu district police headquarters for further inspection by Puspakom.
