Kota Kinabalu: Borneo International Marathon (BIM) organiser Kinabalu Running Club on Monday expressed deep concern over a hit-and-run incident involving a runner and a Rela personnel during the recent marathon.
The club said both injured individuals received immediate medical attention from the event medical team before being transported to hospital for further treatment and observation.
It said members of the organising committee had contacted the victims’ families and were closely monitoring their condition while extending support to those affected.
The club said the matter had been reported to the police and that investigations were being carried out by the relevant authorities, adding that it would continue to cooperate fully with the investigation process.
It said the safety of runners, volunteers, officials and event personnel remained its highest priority, while also thanking the medical team, enforcement personnel, volunteers and members of the public who responded swiftly during the incident.
