Comedian recovers after hospital stay

Kuala Lumpur: Comedian Joanne Kam Poh Poh is bouncing back after a recent health scare that saw her admitted to a hospital in Kota Kinabalu.

In an Instagram update on May 5, Joanne said she was still under medical care but showed clear signs of recovery, noting that her condition had improved and she was awaiting a minor procedure before being discharged.

“I’m still in the hospital, but as you can see, my colour has come back… tomorrow they are going to do a scope, and after that I can go home,” she said, adding that she was on a controlled diet due to diabetes.

Known for her humour even off stage, Joanne lightened the mood by joking about her hospital meals and sharing snippets of her recovery routine.

“The show must go on. I am thankful for this recovery week and will be back in swing next week,” she wrote.

She also confirmed her return to the stage at a live comedy night at Arthur’s Storehouse, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on May 16, alongside Bibi K Poh, signalling a quick comeback to her performance schedule.

Joanne, a long-time favourite on Malaysia’s comedy circuit, continues to receive well-wishes from fans as she prepares to resume her trademark laughter-filled appearances.
