KINABATANGAN: The body of a 28-year-old man who was attacked by a crocodile in front of his father was found floating in a river at Kampung Segaliud on Wednesday.
Mohd Rayyan Abdullah was discovered at about 9.55am, approximately 500 metres from the location where he was reported to have been attacked.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Hairi Otuh said the department received an emergency call before dispatching a team of four personnel to the scene about 30 kilometres away.
He said the victim’s father witnessed the incident before the victim went missing, and a search and rescue operation using water surface rescue methods was carried out within a one-kilometre radius of the last known location.
The operation, assisted by two police personnel and 13 villagers, was suspended at 10.50pm on the first day before resuming the next morning, with the body later recovered and handed over to police for further action.
