KINABATANGAN: A man was reported missing in a forest area in Kampung Meliau, Tongod, after going to his farm, last Sunday.
The victim was identified as Mohd Nizam Dahlan, 32, who was reported missing after leaving his house at about 11am.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Hairi Otuh said the department received an emergency call at 4.17pm on Monday before a team was deployed to the location.
He said a three-member fire team arrived at the scene at 7.25pm after travelling approximately 148 kilometres.
“However, after obtaining information at the location, the SAR operation was suspended at 8.10pm due to darkness and the absence of communication network coverage in the area,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
He said the victim has a history of mental health issues and has yet to be found.
“The SAR operation so far involves three personnel from BBP Kinabatangan using a four-wheel-drive pickup vehicle.
“Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to contact BBP Kinabatangan to assist in the search effort,” he said.
