BONGAWAN: Students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) joined residents of Kampung Kuala Lumagar here to prepare and distribute bubur lambuk during a community program held in conjunction with Ramadan.
The event, called the Rewang Bubur Lambuk and Berbuka Puasa Bersama Komuniti program, was organised under the Semarak Ramadan, Gemilang Syawal (SE’RASY) – Ramadan Edition initiative.
The program was led by the Volunteering and Community Affairs executive committee of the Kingfisher International Residential College Student Welfare Committee for the 2025/2026 session, in collaboration with Persatuan Prihatin Citra Sabah (PPCS).
Students, village youth and local residents took part in the communal cooking activity before distributing the porridge to people in the surrounding area.
Organisers said the initiative aimed to strengthen ties between university students and rural communities while promoting volunteerism and social responsibility among students.
The program was attended by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives, Mohamad Alamin, who spent time with students and villagers ahead of the breaking of the fast.
