PENAMPANG: A municipal councillor has raised concerns from several business operators over the adjustment of business operation licence fees implemented by the Penampang Municipal Council.
Councillor Richard Chong
(pic) said he had received feedback from four businesses — including restaurant operators, a bakery, a food processing factory and an automotive service centre — regarding the revised fees.
He said the current licensing structure calculates fees primarily based on the operational floor area of premises, where larger business spaces are required to pay higher licence fees.
However, the operators said the revised fees had created financial pressure amid rising operating costs and hoped the authorities would review the existing fee structure.
Chong said he would compile the feedback and present it to the council’s management for further study while encouraging business operators to continue voicing their concerns through appropriate channels.
