Kota Kinabalu: A former Industrial Development and Research Department (DIDR) Director pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here Thursday to 20 charges of abetting civil servants under his department in receiving valuable items estimated at RM100,000.
Tseu Kei Yui, currently the Sabah State Economic Planning Unit Deputy Director, entered the plea before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus.
He is accused of abetting 20 staff members to receive items from several companies believed to have official dealings with DIDR in 2023 and 2024 at bank branches in Tawau, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu.
The items allegedly received included smartphones, gadgets, tablets, musical instruments and gym equipment valued at about RM100,000.
Tseu was released on RM30,000 bail with RM10,000 deposited, ordered to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission once every two months and the case was fixed for pre-trial case management on April 24.
