SANDAKAN: Sabah Community Development Leader (PPM) Rizan Aziz highlighted the need for the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic areas here following the recent assault of a Sandakan Municipal Council enforcement officer.
During a visit to the officer who was reportedly attacked by a seller of untaxed cigarettes at the Batu 8 Market, Rizan presented a personal contribution as a gesture of concern for the victim.
He stressed that the installation of CCTV cameras is crucial for monitoring security situations and assisting investigations in the event of incidents.
Rizan proposed placing cameras at key locations, including Batu 8, Batu 16, Batu 7, Batu 4, Sandakan town centre and other areas frequently visited by the public.
He also recommended increasing the number of security personnel, particularly in Batu 8 and other busy areas.
“These measures are vital to ensure the safety of enforcement officers and the public, while curbing the growing sale of smuggled cigarettes,” he said.
