PAITAN: The needs of the Tangkarason Health Clinic, which was damaged in the recent floods, will be brought to the attention of the relevant authorities for further action.
Sabah Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing Datuk Julita Majungki said the matter would be raised to ensure the clinic receives the necessary assistance following the damage caused by the floods.

“The damage caused by the floods has highlighted the urgent need to improve healthcare facilities serving rural communities.
“I have spoken with the Sabah State Health Department (JKNS) regarding the damage here and the needs of this clinic will be brought forward so that the necessary assistance can be provided,” she said during a working visit to the remote clinic on Friday.
The working visit was also attended by JKNS Director Dr William Gotulis, officers from the department’s headquarters, as well as representatives from the Beluran District Health Office.
During the visit, Julita presented food packs, medical supplies and other basic necessities to Beluran Area Health Officer Dr Nafsah Dulajis.
The contributions included items provided through the Hospital Queen Elizabeth Welfare and Social Club.
Julita also commended the dedication of healthcare workers at the clinic, noting that the staff continued serving the community despite the clinic being temporarily cut off during the floods.
“I was informed that the clinic was cut off during the floods, but the staff here supported one another and continued to carry out their duties. I would like to congratulate all of you for your resilience and commitment.
“I also praise Dr Nafsah for overseeing a vast and remote service area. To have a doctor overseeing such a large area is certainly challenging, especially in a place as remote as this,” she said.
The Tangkarason Health Clinic serves a wide rural catchment area in northern Sabah, with the nearest major towns several hours away by road.
