LAHAD DATU: Police arrested a married couple during Op Tapis at Kampung Unta, Jalan Bakawali, on Thursday following a tip-off on drug activities.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Dzulbaharin Ismail, said the 44-year-old couple was found in suspicious circumstances inside an unnumbered house.
Officers seized 0.47gm of suspected syabu and drug-use paraphernalia.
The couple is being investigated under Section 12(2) for drug possession and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for drug consumption.
Earlier the same day, police conducted checks at an entertainment outlet as part of Op Tapis. Seven individuals — four men and three women — were inspected and tested negative for drugs.
No arrests were made during this part of the operation.
Dzulbaharin stressed that Op Tapis reflects Lahad Datu Police Headquarters’ ongoing commitment to curbing drug-related activities.
The public is urged to report any suspicious activities to authorities.
