‘Repair sinking Kunak road’ call
The condition of the road in question puts motorists at risk.
KUNAK: Road users along the Federal route linking Kunak and Lahad Datu have urged the concessionaire and the Public Works Department (PWD) to repair a sinking stretch that has long been left unattended.

Although safety warning signs such as reflectors and road barriers have been placed, the risk of accidents remains high due to the narrow and sloping section, particularly when vehicles from both directions pass simultaneously.

“The route is a main road used daily by all types of vehicles and the danger is even greater when driving at night or during heavy rain, so repairs must be carried out immediately,” said a road user who submitted photographs of the damaged section to Daily Express.

The situation has also been shared on TikTok and Facebook, with many netizens questioning why the damaged stretch remains unrepaired despite the road being a key link between the east coast and Kota Kinabalu.
