TAWAU: A 39-year-old woman was killed while another was injured in a two-vehicle collision along Jalan Merotai towards Tawau near Merotai Kecil on Thursday.

The Fire and Rescue Department received a call at 7.50am and arrived at the scene at 8.18am, confirming a head-on collision involving a Perodua Viva and a Proton Saga with two victims.

The deceased was identified as Jumahira Ramlan, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel, while Widiyana Hasan, 36, sustained injuries and was given initial treatment before being handed over for further medical care.

A total of nine firefighters from the Tawau station carried out rescue and safety operations, including extrication, securing the area, and clearing debris, with the operation concluded at 9.04am after the situation was deemed safe and under control.
