Tuaran: Fourteen individuals, including three women, were detained during Ops Cegah Bil, conducted by the National Anti Drugs Agency (AADK) Tuaran in the district, Tamparuli and Kota Belud recently.
The two-day operation, held from Feb 24, was carried out to curb the spread of drug abuse activities and to ensure the local community remains safe and prosperous.
As a result of the operation, 11 men and three women detained were found to be positive for drugs following initial urine screening tests.
All suspected persons (OYDS) involved were taken to the Tuaran District AADK Office for further action under the provisions of the Drug Dependants and Drug Misusers (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
In a statement, the AADK said the operation reflects the agency’s ongoing commitment to eradicating drug issues at the grassroots level, in line with the target of achieving controlled drug levels by 2030.

In Lahad Datu, police arrested four individuals suspected involved in drug activities in two separate operations, here, on Sunday.
District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said following the Op Tapis at Jalan Putatan, Police arrested three individuals and seized substances believed to be Syabu weighing 1.42 grams.
He said, on the same day, police also held a 28-year-old local man at Felda Sahabat 3 after they found 0.07 grams of Syabu and drug abuse tools in his possession.
“Urine tests conducted on all suspects found all of them positive for taking Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
“The cases would be investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” he said.
In the meantime, Dzulbaharin added that the operation reflected Lahad Datu Police Headquarters continuous commitment in combating drug criminal activities in this district.
