SEMPORNA: Nine houses, a storage facility and a grocery shop were destroyed in a fire at Jalan Pinggir Bakau here on Friday.
A 53-year-old woman fainted at the scene and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Semporna Fire and Rescue station chief Rastam Keladi said the department received a distress call at 1.51pm and deployed 21 firefighters in two fire engines and an EMRS vehicle, with the first unit arriving two minutes later.
He said the buildings were 100 per cent destroyed and firefighters brought the blaze under control at 2.29pm using two 500-foot hose lines with two nozzles.
The operation was called off at 5.30pm after crews ensured the area was safe.
