Kuala Lumpur: Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau
(pic) questioned the reasons often cited for delays in the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sabah, particularly claims that contractor failures were the main cause.
He said if contractor failure was being used as the explanation, then the government, especially the Ministry of Finance Malaysia responsible for selecting and appointing contractors, should provide answers.

“If contractor failure is the reason, isn’t the selection and appointment under the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance, and what criteria were used to select those contractors?” he asked when debating the Supplementary Supply Bill in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday.
Madius said Sabahans have waited too long for the completion of the Pan Borneo Highway project and called for greater transparency on the financial standing of contractors involved to ensure the project does not face further delays.
The Tamparuli Assemblyman also questioned the additional RM7.938 billion approved under the Supplementary Supply Bill 2025, asking how much of the nearly RM8 billion would actually reach Sabah and Sarawak.
