Sarawak flagpole a symbol of pride, says minister
KUCHING:  Sarawakians have been urged to view the 99.8-metre flagpole at Dataran Ibu Pertiwi as a source of pride and inspiration for other states.

According to The Borneo Post, Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman (pic) said the structure has attracted attention and admiration from visitors.

He said the flagpole also impressed the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, during his visit to the Rainforest World Music Festival in 2024.

Abdul Karim said the Sultan was reportedly so fascinated that he instructed Selangor officials to build a similar structure in the state, but taller.
